Location
Things to see and do nearby:
- Portmeirion the Italianate village built by the architect Sir Clough Williams Ellis and made famous by the T.V.programme "The Prisoner"
- The Ffestiniog Steam Railway and the Welsh Highland Railway are two narrow gauge railways based in Portmadoc.
Walking
Attractive walks are plentiful ranging from old Roman roads, Drover's routes and the Rhinogs to coastal paths, all within easy reach. Maps and walk leaflets are in the lounge cupboard and the book shelves in the hall. Historical sites include castles, hill forts, abbeys, ancient churches and even a Roman Amphitheatre, although not very recognisable as one!
Wildlife
Wild life is prolific with Ospreys nesting very near by, red kites, weasels, ravens, wild goats on the Rhinogs and deer in the woods by Llanfachreth.
